'Eye am' the way, and the truth, and the light around here...
There is an Indian tree (probably the Bodhi tree, or Bo-tree [2, 3, 4]) found in Santa Monica, California that images men and apes in its bark. You can find these remarkable trees up and down San Vicente Boulevard on a walk down to the Santa Monica beach. I found one similar to it in Wichita, Kansas, at 324 North Roosevelt south of Central. I call it the God Tree because it seems to speak to men through signs it makes in its bark, as if to say, "I know what matters to men, and I see what goes: I know where the sap flows."

Ram Dass in Rapture: A Forword for Him.

On my 1998 Safari to Pasadena, Caltech, Hollywood, and Los Angeles I walked from a motel room in Brentwood all the way down the San Vicente Boulevard to Santa Monica beach, studying the amazing haunted Bo tree forest carefully the whole way. It is memorable visionary hike to take. Perhaps Gautoma starved and sexed it up at the base of one until it formed an image of him in its bark, receiving in this way the gift of immortality as Siddartha, the Enlightened One, until Ram Dass [2, 3] produced a stimulating 20th Century foreword to his work. It was a memorable trek to the cliff of the Edge of Time by the sea.
"...The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach, far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow. Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free, silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands, with our memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves... Oh let me forget about today until tomorrow..." - Mr. Tambourine Man, Bob Dylan, Greatest Hits I.

Tell 'em
Mr. Green sent you.
Perhaps it's the ghost of Greenwood Research. Granddad Green's house at 401 N. Quentin is visible on the map at Quentin and 3rd, and Grandma Mayfield and initially Harold Mayfield lived just 2 1/2 blocks away at 327 N. Fountain. Dad effectively "married the girl next door" from one side of a bluff, and everyone hoped James A. Green III would be host to James A. Green IV. But like Dad said: "You'll probably have all girls." I presently live in the area shown on the map in a tucked-away apartment. Write jim_green_himself@yahoo.com or phone ahead at (316) 214-5103.

Jim Green's Kodak CX6200 camera. For about $100, high, medium, or good resolution photos and/or digital Quick Time movies. Memory originally expandable to 128 MB, now perhaps to 512 MB. Made in China, sold at Wal-Mart.Perhaps the "God tree" (or Holy Oak, Bo-tree/Bodhi tree or similar) with its nirvana eye of the divine soul, or stamp of "Marxian" fact-of-the-matter consciousness with did-you-or-the-other-guy-blink-games in its bark reflecting our English "eo" and "oe" codes based on wink reflexes wired to our male or female souls had something to do with the promulgation of these codes in the first place. In this case, it seems to be a tree of the wild men of "Borneo" regarding crossings or pains and ecstasies of passage. By now you may have experienced something like the illumination of the Enlightened One under the Bo tree, a sense of the presence and meaning of "Nirvana" or of mysterious divine higher intelligence that seems to objectively exist and to signal to us from the clouds, from the bark of trees, from planetary surfaces, from nebulae, from the constellations, even from lichen on basement walls. It seems to embody useful wisdom applicable to the design of book covers and movie scripts, and to be altogether unconscious of it seems to be a shame, as it seems to project divine warnings, guidance and advice from friendly spiritual presences in the factually mystico-religious environment. With a modern camera in our hand, we can now do somewhat better than the ancients as agents of wisdom and higher intelligence in the universe by arming our students with visible evidence pleasing to "sign-tists".
