Oddjob from Goldfinger

I am having some problems with banking and Internet these days. I cashed a check for a book from Greenwood Research, forgetting to copy the check before it was cashed to get the shipping information from the customer check. In most cases the customer has filled out an order form with all required information, so that I usually have another piece of paper with all required shipping info, you see. I asked for a copy of the check from the bankers, and was told I could get one in "seven to ten days". So now I am sweating that check copy so that I can at least make late delivery. For security reasons, bankers prefer "done deals", so you have to wait "seven to ten days", shades of 007. May the presence of mind be with you.
Otherwise, today I received a proposal involving a large exchange of funds in the mail seeming to involve a whiff of Fort Knox and Goldfinger reasoning. However, I decline to prosecuted for "money laundering", and I am not familiar with the details of foreign exchange to the point where I will attempt such financial maneuvers. It seems like much more than your house is involved, comrade and friend, a plan for world domination, perhaps...or at least a major motion picture.

In my particular case of needing a copy of the check back from the banking system in order to make delivery, I gather that the customer is an oriental PhD praying for his staple product, my book Medical Image Processing: The Mathematics of Medical Imaging by James A. Green, MSEE. That much can be determined from the oriental name, I guess. Like an adequate communist with an international orientation, I do provide the book in exchange for a check if I can obtain cash in exchange for that financial instrument. And I do try to make dreams come true. Write on! Happy trails to you, comrade, but I must pray for patience in the matter this time. However, this is not the room service girl... On the left in the scene above we seem to see a turkey with a big brain under a Darth Vader's helmet equipped with Star Wars heavy artillery, sort of, with a nose for the panhandle... While on the right I see an oriental figure (my customer?) with a towering Buddhist hat showing his teeth in Alabama and sporting a crown peaking in a pen-tip near Washington, D.C.. He actually lives in Texas, however.
[Postscript: The bank came up with a copy of the check on Nov.12, 2004, and the customer's book was delivered the same day from the address information on the check.]
