My mother Ruth Green is recovering from a serious stroke in Green Valley, Arizona, and I must send her a vase of flowers and a card or be counted one who turns his back on a family crisis. It looks like the family peacock or phoenix may be about to proceed and arise from the bodies of his ancestors. My brother David still lives in L.A., and may pay more attention to my Internet leavings than anyone else. Brothers Rick and Tom both keep me informed of the situation by email. My mother is the last surviving member of the family from the great World War II generation that planned our existence and saw us forwards quite some ways, although I think perhaps our Aunt Maggie is still alive and well in Houston . Mom left Wichita with brother Rick and his family in February of 2003, after her 4th stroke. Mom was not fit to answer the phone at the hospital at 11:22 AM CST Nov.5, 2004, according to her nurse Rosie.

Perhaps this refers to the tight-fisted grip of morticians and mortuary personnel on the dead and the props of burial, which I investigated this afternoon here in Wichita. I thought it looked like death about to get a grip on my mother, but then perhaps it is the assault of the Marijuana Muskrat Freedom Fighters, judging from the state of marijuana laws on the map. All that sex-focused hip-swinging with marijuana in one's system gets one's musk level way up, so that one comes across from high heaven like a muskrat in this mode, perhaps. Some folks think its easier than living without it, though.

Now The Cowardly Lion from The Wizard of Oz appears off the heel of Los Angeles, running up toward San Francisco Bay, facing outward into the Pacific. Mom is our Dorothy, who may now be in the grip of the apes of the Wicked Witch of the West. That is how I feel about the situation this afternoon. Will Mom get the best care? If she dies soon, will she be buried in Arizona or Wichita? Will her insurance cover expenses? Viewed the other way around, the fist formation over Arizona becomes the beak of a smiling stork proud of her leonine son David in Los Angeles. David reproduced, and Mom probably thought "Benjamin" was a good name for an American boy, ala Benjamin Franklin.
